Chinese Culture exhibitions and NHS / LINKs survey

OCES NEWS UPDATE for Spring 2011:

During Chinese New Year Month 2011 our society provided five exhibitions in Bournemouth and Poole, including its second major multicultural learning exhibition at Bournemouth Library.  In conjunction with two of these events (a private viewing and a Bournemouth University events management project) we were very honoured to have the attendance of the Worshipful, the Mayor and Mayoress of Bournemouth.

Organisations supporting and publicising our exhibitions included Bournemouth Borough Council, Bournemouth University, Dorset Health Care NHS Foundation Trust, Bournemouth and Poole CVS, and Dorset Race Equality Council

Regional partnership with another South West England Chinese group:

Through the help of initial contacts facilitated by Dorset LINks, the OCES has established an information-sharing and supportive collaborative relationship with the Bristol and Avon Chinese Womens Group.  We are very pleased to work with the BACWG.

The 2011 national Census and local government elections

We strongly urge all members of our Dorset Chinese community to help contribute towards better representation of community through fully participating in the 2011 national census.  More information about this can be found on our Government, Citizens and Rights Page

In addition, local government elections will be held on 5th May.  Please DO vote since the local elections have a direct means of effecting real change in our local community -- they also offer the opportunity to make your voice heard on issues that matter to You!

BU International Art: Multicultural Learning Exhibition.
On the afternoon of Friday 18th February, Bournemouth Library is hosting a free exhibition to raise awareness of Chinese Art and it's influence on Interior Design and Architecture. The event runs from 3 to 5pm in the large meeting room on the 2nd floor of the library, and will include an informal talk about the topic by Bournemouth University's International Art and Drawing Society representative Alan Mercel-Sanca (OCES Chairperson), an internationally renowned professional artist specialising in fine art drawing. This event has been organised by Pippa Bowker and her Events Management team from Bournemouth University.
